What a difference a day (and 62km) makes. La Rochelle is superb and is on Ian's list. We are in a good hotel in the centre of the old town it's a 1760 town house with a contemporary conversion to a hotel, as we've said before someone has to do it. It's wander around time now and yes a few beers to wash away all vestiges of la Tranche. We did do 62km before lunch at an all time best daily average of 20.1 kph so we feel we deserve them and 'It's Friday Today'.
Going back to marshes we are currently ploughing through the Vendee is flat wet and fairly featureless, see photo. Cycling through can be boring but not any more. It's head down headphones on and Castles in the Sky (Ian Van Dahl) or Kody (Matchbox Twenty). I was going to upload them for you but at 3MB + each I thought you could download them or just hum. Anyway it resulted in a personal best maintained speed of over 30kph.
Ian's totally into the local culture, see photo, he's even attending weddings. The second one in 2 days.
