We made the Med !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We must be mad, as my friend John said, you can get a train or in fact fly and it wouldn't take 3 weeks. That aside it was a challenging day with very difficult canal paths and tree roots, so much so we gave up the Canal du Midi, see photo. We were trying to get to the Med and Ian had been told by an attractive tourist information girl that the canal path from Carcossonne to Narbonne was excellent. The charm worked, we believed it. The path was crap and in places did not exist or just stopped. Eventually we gave the path up and hit the roads.
Did I tell you about the woman in a see through zebra outfit kneeling and a zebra in a provocative posse? No more of that later.
So we made the Med. We feel pleased and rightly so and amazed, see photos. So what's it like to cycle to the Med from Bath? Well firstly it's a fucking crazy idea, secondly it's a fucking crazy thing to do. Why did we do it? You had to be there in Antibe last summer and you may start to understand and you had to have had a few bottles each of Rose. So where to next? We have ideas.
We're currently on the Med at Narbonne Plage which is a lot better than Gruissan Plage or Aquajet. One of the main problems which has bugged us all day is the wind which has helped a lot but is relentless. We are sick of it and we have only been here a few hours. What will we think of it tomorrow when we turn into it?

Bravo! Martin (our martin) says "well done lads". Where to now?
Love from the Tixiers in Paris.
Congratulations on reaching the Med - we are very impressed! Makes our India cycle ride seem like a walk in the park!! Sounds like you had to experience lots of merde along the way but I'm sure it was worth it! Which way now then?? Enjoy the sunshine, Catherine and Jeremy xx
