Narbonne-Plage to Perpignan

The wind did blow and we had to retrace our steps to get back on route after our sojourn to the Med, but it did eventually ease. We had decided to have a day off on the Med but the weather was so cold we moved on. As the day progressed the weather changed and at last we had hot, yes hot weather. So much so we stopped and had a swim, photo Ian in the Med.

Arrived in Perpignan, what a difference it hardly seems French, more Spanish or Italian. Quite mix of ethnic types, lots of paella and tight streets to keep the heat out. A good restaurant full of Dali (see photo) and bull fighters, I rest my case.

Speaking of restaurants why do all French restaurants (and houses, well a lot) have to have a figure of a dwarf, Venus or whatever on the premises or even better outside, see photo. It's now a hobby spotting the figure, or often figures. Is it to bring in trade or just annoy me. I suppose the scenario goes '.... what restaurant shall we go to tonight darling, I know let's go to that one with the fat goblin standing out side I'm sure the food will be excellent' see photo. It's rubbish. It isn't the way you decide on the enjoyment/quality of a restaurant by it's diminutive plastic characters, it's the food.

Anyhow news for all you blog followers tomorrow Ian and I take on the Pyranees. Could be a short post tomorrow night.

Way to go! Think that's what Americans say anyway. Tremendous effort guys, it may seem ages to you but I cannot believe how quickly you made it to the Med. Good luck with the Pyranees, although hard travelling I bet the scenery will make it worth while. Regarding the Porsche Cayanne - don't think you needed back up anyway! Keep those wheels turning. well the worst bit'll be cycling up but then cycling down will be brilliant ! If you get up enough speed you could make it back to the channel without stopping !!
